Discovery Day School students Pre-Kindergarten:

Pre-K...what an exciting time in your child's life and in his or her development! Since most of a child's learning occurs between the time they are born and age eight, it is important to support children in all five areas of their development: Social, Physical, Intellectual, Cognitive and Emotional. As a Christian based preschool, we also feel that their Spiritual development is equally important and children attend each week and Biblical concepts are reinforced daily. Our curriculum is developed and taught with these areas of development in mind and by a state certified teacher in Early Childhood and Elementary Education certification. Our Pre-K offers:

  • Early Literacy Skills, Writing and Concepts of Print; Math (sorting, counting, attributes), Science (exploring the world around them); Social Studies (learning about our families, our community and holidays/customs/traditions); and Health and Safety.
  • Indoor and Outdoor play time
  • Chapel weekly
  • Spanish - an introduction to a second language
  • Masterpiece Mondays - an introduction to different artists and types of art. The children will have an opportunity each month to create their own "masterpiece"
  • Small class sizes, which allows the teacher so spend more time with individual children.

Mission Statement:

The Discovery Day School at The Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit is a unique part of God's family, encompassing many types and ages of children. We seek to create a family environment in which to learn what it means to be God's children. We will encourage all children to love God and love learning.
